3. Cotton Mather's first album, 's Cotton Is King, was fine guitar pop with a decided Squeeze influence, but it doesn't prepare one at all for the sonic onslaught of its follow-up. Kontiki is one can't-get-it-out-of-your-skull pop song after another, interspersed with bursts of tape collage and random studio noise. Dec 21,  · The bonus track of "Spin My Wheels" on this CD is an unedited version of the same "electric" take that appeared on the 'Kontiki' Deluxe Edition in That CD has the performance edited to match the album version in terms of song structure; however, that take initially included an incomplete repetition of the verse before the second guitar /5(82).

8. May 31,  · This one is a response to a recent request. It's a collection a collection of demos, b-sides and compilation tracks by the Austin band Cotton Mather. In the 90's Cotton Mather released three essential Power Pop albums that strongly evoked mid-period Beatles. In my opinion their second album Kontiki is one of "the" classics.
